Exeter St Thomas Station - Minibeasts Mosaic

Two mosaic panels designed and made with students at Southbrook School and St Thomas's Primary School, Exeter

1.The logo of St Mary the Virgin, Denbury, in colours and shape chosen to chime with the bell tower clock.

2.Overall design idea – a doorway through to a paradise world.

3.Overall design shape inspired by the church windows, altar and churchyard stones.

4.1318 the year that this St Mary the Virgin church was first built.

5.Poppies for remembrance of those from Denbury who died in past wars.

6.Daisies, that can be found growing over the graves across the churchyard, are a symbol of new life.

7.2018 – St Mary the Virgin, Denbury – 700th Anniversary year.

8.A stalk of the ‘Madonna Lilly’ presented to the Virgin Mary by the Angel Gabriel at the Annunciation / to announce of the coming of Jesus.

9.Cherry tree, in honour of the cherry tree at the entrance to the churchyard under which this mosaic stands.

10.Local landscape view in the style of Denbury childrens’ drawings and landscape views in Italian early renaissance paintings of the annunciation created in the era of the founding of St Mary the Virgin, Denbury.

11.Golden stars in the heavens.

12.Denbury Down.

13.The Denbury primary school, in honour of the children of Denbury who helped to create this mosaic.

14.The Church of St Mary the Virgin in the beautiful landscape of Denbury.

A community mosaic made with users of the Strand Centre during the 2015 Dawlish Arts Festival.

‘Animal Park’ - Thornhill Bridge Community Gardens West

Regents Canal, Caledonian Road, Islington, London

Created during a residency in Copenhagen Primary School, Islington, London, with 60 children from Year 4 and 5 classes in 2006.

Funded by the Rail link Countryside initiative and Section 106.
