Almost all the work for ‘The Dog Walk Project – Part 2’ was created from digital images taken while on daily dog walks through the Shaldon Botanical Gardens between February 2021 to January 2022. The work emerged from my sensory experience of being in the gardens, and being with all the plants and trees that live there.

Many of the images here, created using photography and digital manipulation, use the circle within a square and six-fold geometry, echoing the ancient form of Buddhist and Hindu ‘Mandalas’, and are particularly inspired by the Hindu ‘Sri Yantra’ symbol of interlocking triangles. The ‘Sri Yantra’ represents the division of the physical cosmos into earth, atmosphere, and the sun, which are mirrored within each of us by the body, the breath, and the inner energy of consciousness – all of which are available to be experienced on a walk.
