Black Holes and Umbellifers

‘Andrena Minutuloides is a tiny little mining Bee, just 4 to 5 mm in length, all black, with no stripes at all. Andrena has a particular affection for all things white, preferring the starry constellations of white umbellifer flowers, such as cow parsley and wild carrot, that grow on the white chalk downs and chalk grasslands of Southern England. Andrena, the plain mini miner bee, burrows it’s own solitary little black holes to reside in, each time kicking up a galaxy of calcium carbonate dust.

In the spirit of Andrena Minutuloides, ‘Black Holes and Umbellifers’ has been created with cow parsley stalks and crushed chalk.’
